Rapid teen assessment

Avoid the wait for your child’s orthodontic assessment.

Going ahead with treatment? Your £155 assessment fee is deducted. When you choose private treatment after your private assessment, the £155 already paid is taken away from your overall treatment cost. If you use our payment plan, we take it off the £900 deposit, so your deposit is £745 and the monthly amounts do not change. Cross-border (HSE) patients are not included.

Children referred by their dentist are offered a free assessment to check whether they are eligible for health service (NHS) orthodontic treatment. This assessment normally takes 6 to 12 months to come round, and treatment then tends to start 3 to 6 months later, depending on the case.

Want the assessment sooner?

Rapid teen assessment£155private rapid assessment

To have the assessment sooner, you can self-refer, or your dentist can refer your child, and pay privately for it. The rapid assessment costs £155.

Both appointments in a single visit. Because you meet the orthodontist at your Rapid Teen Assessment, it combines your records appointment and your treatment planning appointment in one visit.

We check your child’s teeth and bite at the assessment and explain whether they are likely to be eligible for health service treatment, and what options they have.

Please note: paying for a rapid assessment does not increase your child’s chances of health service treatment. Eligibility is decided in exactly the same way – you just skip the waiting list for the assessment.

What happens next?

  • If your child is eligible for health service treatment, we will explain the next steps, which may include joining a waiting list for treatment.
  • If your child’s needs are too mild for health service funding and you are interested, we can tell you about private treatment options.
  • If your child is not ready yet (for example, adult teeth are still coming through), we may see them again at a later date.

To book, send us a self-referral, or ask your dentist to refer your child (choosing “Rapid Teen Assessment” on our dentist referral form), or call us on 028 3870 2623. Anything else, ask your clinician during your appointment.
